Politics: Election '08: ... Choice?

I recently decided to research what the exact difference is between the two most influential political parties here: the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Anyone and their aunt will tell you that both parties are sworn enemies who have descended from apparently very different political ideologies - the NPP from the Danquah/Busia tradition and the NDC from the Rawlings tradition.

In spite of the fact that there are people who would literally pick up arms and fight to 'defend' these parties (don't ask me from what), ask any one of them what the difference between those traditions are, and people will start shuffling uncomfortably, making excuses or may just threaten to knock you on your too-known-and-probably-opposition-loving-anyway intellectual head.

I am going to have to ask someone from the university about it. I'll get back to you.
