Interview: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

One of my favorite writers, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, was interviewed in the Observer last week promoting her new collection of stories, The Thing Around Your Neck.

  2. Looked her up on youtube as well, and saw that she visited Middlesex Uni, Dubai to do publicity for her books, i think. She is a great inspiration. It's a shame she isnt as popular on her home continent as she is in UK, a real shame. Until i saw her featured on the Guardian.co.uk books section, I hadnt heard of her and probably would have stayed that way too if not for the foreign press. The only way she would gain some popularity here will be if her books were made a standard issued reading material for S.S.S/ S.H.S ( not sure which Abbreviation the current administration has settled on yet)schools as part of their English course. But truth be told none of the African literature gods would have been known if not for english teachers across the continent force-feeding their works to playstation- hooked teenagers.
